Dear American Airlines

It happens to us at least once in a lifetime: a flight being delayed…or cancelled.  You start to wonder how long the wait will be, if you have a book long enough to read while in traveller limbo, it becomes a bit of a struggle to stay relaxed and excited at the same time.

This is exactly what happens to Bennie Ford, the lead protagonist in Jonathan Miles’ “Dear American Airlines”.

Bennie is on his way to his estranged daughter’s wedding.  Feeling irate, helpless, and frustrated he does the only thing he can do: he writes a letter.  What starts out as a ranting plea for a refund turns into an introspective look at a life gone wrong, and the comforting conclusion that it is not too late to start over.

Beautifully written, this is a must read for serial vacationers – safe travels!
